The auction for the IPL 2022 will take place in a few days. Two new franchises are added in this edition Lucknow and Ahmedabad. The mega auction will be held on the 12th and 13th of February 2022. TATA sponsors this year IPL, so it will also be called the TATA IPL 2022. Since every team will get ready to pick suitable players for their teams, let us look at some of the err signings and missed out opportunities.
VIRAT KOHLI
IN the first-ever auction of the IPL, Delhi Daredevils did have a chance to get their hands on their very own local boy Virat Kohli. DD was allowed to pick a player from the U-19 team. Kohli was one of them. Instead, DD opted for the young fast bowler Pradeep Sangwan. RCB then ensured that they got the benefits of having the U-19 captain and bought him for $30,000. RCB now is a very well-known franchise worldwide, and Kohli has a significant role in doing that.
BEN STOKES
The English all-rounder was a new entry in the IPL auction 2017. It was pretty evident that teams would go berserk to get him. It happened just like that, and teams started to bid for him, but further in this race, only two teams were left Sunrisers, Hyderabad and Pune Supergiants. But Hyderabad pulled out at the last moment, and Pune got their man for an amount of Rs. 14.5 crores. Stokes then ended the season with the Most Valuable Player award.
YUVRAJ SINGH
After RCB released Yuvraj the season after they purchased him for Rs. 14 crores, as he could not contribute to the team, DD took this opportunity and bought the star Indian all-rounder. Yuvraj had performed well with the national team and showed his talent. DD purchased him for Rs. 16 crores. However, Yuvraj did not make it wholly worth the price and this resulted in a massive setback for DD, and they finished 7th that season.
IPL 2022
Many teams have released big names from their squad ahead of the Mega Auction; some groups have gotten ahead without their key player. Some Big players who have entered this year’s auction are Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammad Shammi, Shreyas Iyer, Ishant Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin and a few more. Foreign players like David Warner, Faf Du Plessis, Trent Boult, Q De Kock have also been left out.
These are the players who had contributed to the success of their franchise. Many teams will go head to head, to get such players. There are in total 590 players available for the Mega Auction. Which team will make a good team this season, and who will come out as the strongest contender for the title.
